At CES 2019, HERE Mobility advertised a new app called SoMo that it thinks is the perfect solution for coordinating schedules with people via group texts.
To its core, SoMo severs two essential purposes: Help people compare charges of the ride in their area without having to jump back & forth between apps and provide a platform where people can feel it easier to schedule a carpool meetup.
A big focus is something HERE calls “Gatherings,” which are events that users can produce in the SoMo app and can be practiced for carpooling to work, a weekend party, etc.
Let’s say you want to attend a gathering, you can choose to get there by simply driving yourself, booking a taxi through the SoMo’s app, or sharing a ride with friends.
The service is helpful when you’re driving, as it allows you to invite people, and enables you to let them know that you’ll be soon picking them up, and see who’s agreed to ride with you.
SoMo has previously signed a contract for 1.4 million cars for its Mobility Marketplace to support over 350 cities around the world. As of January 7th, 2019, SoMo’s adding operations in Athens, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Almere Stad, Haarlem, Brussels, Helsinki, The Hague, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Thessaloniki, Nice, Piraeus, and London with planned expansions in 50 to 10 new cities each month through all of 2019.
