With paid subscription services like Hulu, and Netflix have long been the standard in streaming, the launch of a new service like “Popcornflix” is indeed a step towards a less expensive video streaming platform.
Popcornflix is an over-the-top (OTT) service offering free, ad-supported streaming video of feature-length movies, and webisodes. It is owned & operated by Screen Media Ventures.
You’ll appreciate the subtle interface of the app as the main menu is hidden behind the hamburger menu, which is positioned on the left side of the screen, thereby maximizing your view of different movies and their categories. Here you’ll be able to quickly browse films based on genres such as Drama, action, horror, thriller, comedy, staff picks, sci-fi, mystery, romance, documentary, and much more.
There’s a search bar located on the top right of the screen for quickly finding any movie of your choice. And the whole page took less amount of time to load and as you scroll down more options will start to appear.
Popcornflix’s library for films is tremendous, and you can explore it to find movies like Terminator 2, Flash Point, Shutter Island, The Silence, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The best part is that you don’t have to sign up or log in to watch any of your favorite film or a TV show. Another huge advantage which Popcornflix has is, of course, its price. Popcornflix is free.
Popcornflix comes with ads that run about once every 15 minutes, which is fairly standard for these types of services. The commercial breaks on the service are also noticeably shorter than those on Crackle or Tubi TV, often running as little as 30 seconds.
Some content is available to rent ad-free for $0.99, but this doesn’t seem to be a major focus for the service, though.

On Popcornflix, you will find a handful of video player options like volume rocker, favorite icon. Full-screen mode, and options to shuffle movies – if they are in the queue.
The video quality of the available films is close to DVD quality. Films are watchable, though rarely available in full HD experience.
As far as the buffering experience is concerned, you’ll hardly find any issue while playing videos, because as soon as you click the video, it will start streaming in no time.
The free movie app of Popcornflix is available for a range of devices including iOS, Android, Roku, Xbox, Smarts, etc. When checked the application on an Android device, it offered the similar ease of operation as it’s on Popcornflix site.
