Released by Marvel Entertainment and D3 Publisher on October 3rd, 2013, Marvel Puzzle Quest is actually the fourth inclusion in the Puzzle Quest series.
It is a free-to-play, role-playing Bejeweled-style puzzle game, featuring 187 playable Marvel characters.
The gameplay of Marvel Puzzle Quest
You as a player in this game will assemble a team of three Marvel super-villains or superheroes from different storylines. You’ll control your squad against a group of up to three other characters in match-three, turn-based fights.
Key functions of the gameplay
1- Gems vanished and are replenished from above as they are matched. When gems are matched, the six colors of gems on the board grant energy that can be used to achieve special moves.
2- When all foes are downed the fight is over revealing a prize for the conqueror. Prizes can include special boosts, in-game currencies or a new character, which can be added to your roster!
3- Points are earned by winning encounters. After receiving those points, you can apply them to unlock new attacks and level up your proceeding.
4- Marvel Puzzle Quest can be played in any of the two main modes: story and multiplayer. In these modes, you can fight against other groups controlled by the game’s AI.
5- New characters, hero coins, a bundle of Iso-8 and other items can be obtained by replaying previous levels.
6- Each character in Marvel Puzzle Quest has a set of real comic book covers associated with them, representing the character’s skills and allowing the player to boost the character’s abilities or level them up.
7- Characters in the game are ranked in several tiers using stars. They range from one-star characters to five-star characters – the most powerful one.
The storyline of Marvel Puzzle Quest
The story features an influential substance called Iso-8 and Norman Osborn’s efforts to supplant SHIELD. While you’re in the middle of the action, you can pick & try any of the five approaches to stop Osborn on his worldwide terror spree.
Overall, Marvel Puzzle Quest has the story, which is based on the Dark Reign storyline and was written by Alex Irvine and Frank Tieri.
